Agentic Research
Research tooling that lets your own AI coding agents work with your Google account.
Agentic Research is a research toolkit for running AI coding agents (Claude Code and OpenAI Codex) on a personal computer or a university computing cluster. It installs small connector programs, called MCP servers, that run on your own machine. Through them, an agent you started can read your email and work with your Google files when you ask it to.
What It Does
- Gmail (read-only): searches and reads your messages, threads, labels, and attachments, and can check periodically for new mail. It cannot send, change, or delete email.
- Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides: finds, reads, creates, and edits files on your instruction, for example drafting a document or updating a spreadsheet of results. The default permissions also allow moving, sharing, and deleting files.
- Google Calendar: reads your calendars and events and creates, updates, or deletes events on your instruction.
How It Handles Your Data
You authorize each Google connector before using it. Its sign-in tokens are stored on the computer or cluster account where you run the toolkit. The local connectors call Google's APIs directly; there is no developer-operated Agentic Research backend that receives those tokens or Google data. Content retrieved for your agent may be sent to your chosen AI provider to carry out your request. The optional Gmail checker runs independently and keeps a local snapshot and latest summary of matching mail. See the Privacy Policy for permissions, storage, sharing, and deletion details.
Stop Access
Remove access at any time from your
Google Account connections page,
stop any running Gmail checker, and delete the saved connector credentials. The default
location is .research/mcp/; installations with configured shared state can
store them elsewhere. See the deletion
instructions.
